Inspiration?

March 17, 2011

Surely, I knew this day would come. My first attempt, in a very long time, to start writing again. It isn't the same as songwriting!

Several friends, fans and music peeps I work with have expressed their interest in hearing my insight, stories and observations about touring around the world, being a full-blown vagabond-artist. They unanimously asked me: Start writing a blog! We want to follow you to the exciting places you go, to be part of the shows you play, and hear the stories of people you talked to. Let us see the world through your eyes!

Huh! Not a simple request – this requires some writing skill.

I used to love writing and it came easily. However, just like most any skill or gift we have we need to use it. Otherwise, well you know the rhyme.... Since I wanted to do some writing for a while I will go ahead and start here! One good reason (amongst many others) is to reach back out and fulfill your sincere requests. Maybe it will be a clumsy-first-step-start, nevertheless a start of expression and connection. Comments are welcome.

My insight on inspiration:

~ I'm a strong believer that if we seemed to “lose” the inspiration, if we just start acting and doing something the inspiration comes back to us eventually. A lot of times inspiration is generated by how present we are to the world around us and the world inside us. Just pause and watch – you will find many fascinating, interesting things. Linger in the moment! Linger in the conversation, in the environment you find yourself in - wait for the dynamic to happen, for a rise, a culmination and a fall. Maybe then you are done... I noticed that for us to find inspiration in familiar things again sometimes we have to leave and immerse ourselves in the unfamiliar – the novel world. Discovery, joy and curiosity overtakes the mundane, the familiar...there you have it – the birth of inspiration. You can be a part of creating that moment when you come back by learning how to bring in new elements to your ordinary daily life.

This is what traveling Europe for the first time last year has been to me....~

To be continued...
